Violeta is from Chiclana and as sweet as the pestiños that her "Andalusian Grannies" make.

A tribute to all the grandmothers and their art.

At the beginning of the last century - on June 2, 1904 - a group of fishermen from the almadraba were burying spoils on a Cadiz beach when one of them – the Malospelos – He saw something strange and shiny... After a little girl separated from the group, she began to dig in the sand, finding several gold coins.

Despite his silence, his companions understood him when they saw how he put fistfuls of coins mixed with sand and tuna blood into his pockets. After that, everyone ended up sifting the sand with their hands.

Those coins were 8 reales, minted in Mexico and legal tender during the reign of Fernando VI. They were popularly known as ancient hards or both worlds .

The news soon went viral through word of mouth that was more effective than the best of the campaigns orchestrated on Twitter; Gold coins had appeared on the beach of La Victoria and the old rumor of the mutiny of the crew of the Brazilian ship El Defensor de Pedro was revived. It was said that before sinking and abandoning the ship, the pirates collected the treasure contained in their warehouses and buried it on a beach in the city shortly before being executed.

They never revealed where it was, until the Malospelos fortune discovered a treasure that historians estimate at more than 1,500 gold coins. Anyone can have a good day.
